The Hard Luck Story

This scam starts with the scammer gaining your trust and just when you are comfortable talking with them, the scammer comes up with a hard luck story and asks for your help.

The average thing is: The scammer is sick or has a sick parent or child, or more commonly is stuck in a country, (this could be anywhere) but they need your help because their money, credit card, and ID has been lost or stolen, they have been arrested and need to pay legal fees for one reason or another cannot afford to pay for their transport to you, or they have been injured and are in the hospital but can't get treated without the money. Scammers are very good at making you feel sorry for them. You may feel inclined to help them and send them money. After all, you have been led to believe this is your future spouse, but this is just another scam!

BUT BEFORE YOU SEND ANYTHING:

Ask if you can arrange travel for them from your end, there are a number of reasons for doing this: first of all it will cost much less than you sending any the chances are that as soon as you try this method the person asking for your help will come up with so many reasons why you cannot do it, this just proves that it is a scam and you are being conned!
